If the drive chain slack is excessive
when the rear axle is moved to the
furthest limit of adjustment, the drive
chain is worn and must be replaced.
5. Tighten the rear axle nut to:
88 N·m (8.9 kgf·m , 65 lbf·ft)
If a torque wrench is not used for this
installation, visit your Honda dealer as soon
as possible to verify proper torquing.
6. Tighten the adjusting nuts lightly, then
tighten the lock nuts by holding the
adjusting nuts with a spanner.
7. Recheck drive chain slack.
8. Rear brake pedal free play (for Drum)
is affected when repositioning the rear
wheel to adjust drive chain slack. Check
rear brake pedal free play and adjust as
necessary (page 16.).
Cleaning and Lubrication:
This vehicle is equipped with seal type chain
hence proper care needs to be taken during
its cleaning and lubrication.
When the drive chain becomes dirty, it should
be cleaned prior to lubrication as follows.
1. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
2. For drive chain cleaning use Honda
recommended chain cleaner.
Do not use a steam cleaner, high
pressure cleaner, wire brush, volatile
solvent such as
gasoline (petrol)
,
benzene and abrasive cleaner or a chain
cleaner NOT designed specially for seal
(O-ring) chains to clean the drive chain.

CAUTION
3. Adjust the drive chain (page 53) and
rear brake pedal free play (for Drum).
(page 16)
Lubricate every 1,000 km (600 miles) or
sooner if chain appears dry.
