What are Daily Calorie Requirement, Ideal Calorie Requirement and Ideal Weight?

This scale offers a Daily Calorie Requirement (DCR) and an Ideal Calorie Requirement (ICR) to help
you maintain your current weight and your ideal weight.

Daily Calorie Requirement (DCR)

is an approximate estimate of the daily calorie intake to maintain

your present weight and body fat percentage at your present physical activity level.

Ideal DCR

is an approximate estimate of the daily calorie intake to maintain your ideal weight and

ideal body fat percentage

after you reach it

at your present physical activity level.

Note: Your Ideal Calorie Requirement is not the number of calories you should eat to reach
your ideal weight. It is the calorie intake that will maintain your ideal weight once achieved.

Ideal Weight

is the recommended weight computed based on your ideal body fat percentage.

•  Taking in more calories than you need leads to an increase in body fat as the body stores the

excess calories as fat.

•  To lose excessive body fat, you have to burn more calories by following an exercise program and

having a balanced diet.

•  Remember: if you lose weight it does not always mean that you have lost body fat. Conversely,

if you put on weight by increasing body muscle, your body fat may stay at the same level or it
may decrease.

Why is the Athlete Mode necessary in a Body Fat Analyzer?

Body fat estimation using BIA could overestimate the body fat percentage of adult elite ath-
letes. The physiological variation of athletes in bone density and level of hydration are two of
the reasons that account for the difference. The Athlete Mode is selectable only for adults 18
years of age or older.

What is the definition of an Athlete?

The general consensus among researchers is that a quantitative dimension could be used to
define an athlete. An athlete is considered a person who does 10 hours or more per week of
aerobic activity and has a resting heart rate of 60 beats per minute. These individuals should
select Athlete Mode for the most accurate results.

When should I use the body fat functions?

The best time for using this analyzer is in the evening. By establishing the pattern of your
body’s fluctuation over a period of one month, you can determine your average level of body
fat. Women will have more fluctuation in water content than men and need to monitor their
reading over a longer time period to establish a personal average. You must determine this as
a reference point before measuring progress in a health program.

You must wait several hours before taking a body fat reading when:

drinking coffee

or alcohol, taking diuretic medications, or exercising. These all affect your level of hydration
and the accuracy of this analyzer.

Caution

BIA (Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis) method determines your body fat and body water percentage
by sending a harmless signal through the body.

Do not use this product if you have a

pacemaker, artificial limbs, contraceptive devices, metal plates/screws or other internal
medical devices. When in doubt, contact your physician.

This analyzer will give accurate body fat and body water % readings for a majority of people, but is
not intended for use by the following groups:

Children:

Anyone under the age of 10 years

Pregnant Women

Note:

This instrument is a personal monitor and should be used in a consistent

manner for the most accurate reading. While readings might vary between this
analyzer and other methods of measurement (hydrodensitometry or hand held calipers),
your

changes

in body fat percentage shown by this instrument will be reflected accurately.

Always consult your physician before beginning any diet or exercise program.

Battery Installation

1.  Uses one 9-Volt alkaline battery (not included).
2.  Remove battery compartment cover on the bottom of the scale and insert the battery into the

scale platform. The display will show “OOOO”, then the scale will automatically turn off. Your
scale is now ready for use.

4.  Replace the battery when “Lo” is displayed.
5.  Remove the battery if the product is not used for a long time.
