This is usefull if you want to have full control over just how much extra gain the DSPre
will put into your system. The compromise is:
The more gain, the less dynamic range
The less gain, the less linearity
Several measurements on different systems have shown that a maximum gain of 6dB is a
good compromise, but your system can of course change the determining factors
