categories for adults aged 20 or older, both men and women. The recommended
BMI values may vary from country to country.
• Body fat percentage (BFP)
BFP is the calculated total fat mass divided by the total body mass and
multiplied by 100. Body fat includes both essential body fat and stored body
fat. This value is based on bioelectric impedance analysis (BIA), although
there are other accurate methods for determining BFP, such as hydrostatic
weighing, skinfold measurement tests etc. BIA, however, is a popular and
convenient method of checking all changes in body fat. The table below
shows reference body fat percentage values with which you can evaluate your
own BFP. To obtain more personalized suggestions and measurements, you
should consult your physician.
