Maintenance
Maintenance should only be carried out by qualified personnel. To prevent unwanted alarms, ensure that the proper
authorities have been informed and that the unit has been isolated from the fire system.
Caution:
When installing or servicing the unit, ensure that the operator is safely grounded so as to prevent
electro-static discharge (ESD) damage to the unit.

Prior to carrying out any work or maintenance on the VPR-SD1, take the necessary steps to advise the
monitoring authority that power may be removed and the system disabled.

Point detectors should be serviced in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations.
l
The system must be tested in accordance with inspection, test and maintenance specifications as stated in
NFPA 72.

Air Inlet Filter Replacement Procedure
With normal use, the filter element will eventually become contaminated with dust particles, impeding airflow, and it
is recommended that the filter element (order code VPR-SDFILTER) is changed every six months or as necessary.
The frequency of filter replacement depends on environmental conditions. For example, where the detector is placed
in extreme environmental conditions, the filter should be changed every three months.
1. Remove the transparent cover using the special tool provided to unscrew the tamper proof fasteners.
2. Lift out the foam filter element from the filter tube using tweezers or long nosed pliers.
3. Fit a new filter element. Ensure that the filter is not compressed during fitting and that it is positioned flush with
the top of the filter tube.
4. Replace the transparent cover.
