NOTES
• S-Video output connector
The video signals are divided into colour (C) and brightness (Y) signals, achieving a clearer picture.
If the TV is equipped with a S-Video input connector, we recommend connecting it to the this product’s S-Video output con-
nector using a commercially available S-Video connection cord.
• If you use the Euro A/V (SCART) jack, it is not necessary to connect the analog audio cable.
• Connect the DVD/VCR directly to a TV. If the A/V cables are connected to a VCR, pictures may be distorted due to the copy
protection system.
• Be sure not to use both the EURO AV (SCART) jack and COMPONENT VIDEO OUT jacks for video output at the same
time.
• When changing the VIDEO OUT setting (SCART or COMPONENT INTERLACE/ COMPONENT PROGRESSIVE), connect
to a VIDEO jack or an S-VIDEO jack on the TV. If the setting is changed, for example, to COMPONENT INTERLACE/ COM-
PONENT PROGRESSIVE while the Euro A/V (SCART) jack is connected to the TV, a distorted video signal may be output.
• When your TV conforms to RGB input signal, the Euro AV (scart) connection ensures you the best picture and audio quali-
ty. However if your TV does not confirm to RGB input signal, the S-VIDEO OUT and analog AUDIO OUT connection is bet-
ter (for DVD features only).
Selecting Progressive Scan (625p<576p> or Interlaced 625i<576i>) Playback
¡
If your TV is compatible with progressive scanning (625p<576p>), connect the TV to the Component Video Output jacks of
the DVD/VCR and set “VIDEO OUT” to “COMPONENT PROGRESSIVE” in the display setting. Next, set your TV to the pro-
gressive scan mode. Refer to page 28 for instructions on changing the display setting.
¡
If your TV is not compatible with progressive scan, set “VIDEO OUT” to “COMPONENT INTERLACE”.
¡
Use a commercially available adaptor if the video input jacks of your TVs or monitors are the BNC type.
What is Progressive Scanning?
¡
Unlike conventional interlace scanning, the progressive scan system provides less flickering and images in higher resolution
than that of traditional (625i<576i>) television signals.
