The cutting speed of the Model CR 13VBY is substantially higher than that of the current model. However, the
conventional high-speed steel blades may be easily broken in heavy applications such as house demolition. To
cope with this problem, the bimetal blades shown in the following table are provided as optional accessories. The
bimetal blades are tough and rarely break since they are made of two different types of steels by electron-beam
welding. A very hard steel called "DM05" (JIS SKH51 or equivalent molybdenum containing high-speed steel) or
"Matrix II" (JIS SKH56 or equivalent cobalt containing high-speed steel) is used at the cutting edges, and a flexible
spring steel is used for the blade main body. Thus the bimetal blades are remarkably stronger than the
conventional high-speed steel blades.
