SYMPTOM
PROBABLE CAUSE
SOLUTION
1
Zero/low
production
No water supply.
Wait until the water supply has
been restored.
Brass ball valve at entrance
fully/partially closed.
Open the entrance valve fully.
Storage tank ball valve closed.
Open the storage tank valve fully.
Insufficient supply pressure.
Check mains pressure. If it is lower than
2.5 bars, then you must install a pump
and its respective switches.
Storage tank punctured or broken.
Check if water is coming out of the fill
valve. If so change the tank.
No air in storage tank.
Check the pressure in the storage tank
when empty. The pressure should be at
least 0.25 bars. Pressurise if necessary.
Flow restrictor obstructed.
Replace flow restrictor.
Drain obstructed.
Check if the drain line is blocked. If so,
unblock it.
Excessive concentrated flow rate.
Check the flow in the flow restrictor,
if excessive, replace it.
Cartridges obstructed.
Replace cartridges
Membrane saturated.
Replace membrane.
No power supply.*
Check the property’s power supply or
socket. Check voltage at transformers
output. If there isn’t any, replace it*.
Pump in poor condition.*
Check that the pump increases pressure
at the membrane housing inlet. If it
doesn’t, change it*.
2
Excessive
production
and/or
elevated TDS
The membrane hasn’t been fitted.
Fit membrane.
Damaged membrane O-rings.
Replace the O-rings on the membrane.
Damaged membrane housing.
Replace the membrane housing.
Membrane damaged.
Replace the membrane.
Badly connected tubes.
Wire the connection between the wastage
and the permeate properly.
Damaged shut off valve.
Replace shut off valve.
3
Bitter or
acidic taste
Water with very low salinity level.
Fit a mineralizing postfilter.
* Only equipment with pump
* Only equipment with pump

SOLUTION
4
Plastic or
synthetic taste
Worn postfilter.
Replace postfilter.
5
Unpleasant
taste and smell
Contamination.
Change the filters, membrane, postfilter
and sanitise.
6
White particles
in the water
Air in the system.
Wait for the air to pass as there’s no urgent
problem.
High pressure in
the storage tank.
Check the pressure in the storage tank when
it’s empty of water. The pressure should be
between 0.25 bars and 0.4 bars. Depressurize
tank if necessary.
Excessive inlet
pressure.
Check the mains water pressure, if it is greater
than 4 bars it will be necessary to fit a pressure
regulator at the inlet to the osmosis system.
7
The osmosis
system doesn’t
stop throwing
water away
Shut off valve
deteriorated.
Replace shut off valve.
Non-return
valve deteriorated.
Replace non-return valve.
Excessive inlet
pressure.
Check the mains water pressure, if it is greater
than 4 bars it will be necessary to fit a pressure
regulator at the inlet to the osmosis system.
Very little air in
storage tank.
Check the pressure in the storage tank when it’s
empty of water. The pressure should be between
0.25 bars and 0.4 bars. Depressurize tank
if necessary.
8
The osmosis
system starts up
sporadically
without water
consumption
Non-return
valve deteriorated.
Replace the non-return valve.
Excessive
inlet pressure.
Check the mains water pressure, if it is greater
than 4 bars it will be necessary to fit a pressure
regulator at the inlet to the osmosis system.
Leak in some point
of the system
and/or faucet.
Repair the leak and/or replace faucet.
9
The osmosis
system stops
and starts
.
Very low inlet pressure,
lower than 1 bar.*
Bypass the minimum pressure switch
(Danger that the pump could work without
water and break) *
Minimum pressure
switch in bad condition*
Replace minimum pressure switch.*
Non-return valve
deteriorated*
Replace non-return valve*
