OPERATION
5.1 OPENING/CLOSING THE SWING GATE

Always open/close the leaf at an appropriate speed.

Hold the leaf firmly when opening/closing it so that any gusts of wind do not
lead to unintended movements. The door handle or front vertical post can be
used as a handgrip.

Never slam the leaf against the end position at high speed (>0.2 m/s). This
may damage the product.
5.1.1 Unlocking/opening the swing gate

Insert the matching key into the cylinder and turn it so that the gate is un-
locked. This causes the deadbolt to retract. The gate is now unlocked. The
latch bolt prevents the leaf from opening unintentionally.

Where applicable, slide the locking pin on the locking leaf upward.

Hold down the door handle. At this point, the gate leaf can be opened.
5.1.2 Closing/locking the swing gate

Where applicable, slide the locking pin on the locking leaf upward.

Close the leaf at an appropriate speed so that the spring-loaded latch bolt au-
tomatically engages in the stop. At this point, the leaf is secured against being
opened unintentionally.

Insert the matching key into the cylinder and turn it so that the gate is locked.

Remove the key from the cylinder.
5.2 SLAM PROTECTION
It must be possible to protect gates that remain open against unintentional move-
ments – for example, as a result of gusts of wind.
For swing gates, this can be done using a locking pin or a gate catcher. A gate
catcher must be ordered separately.
5.2.1 LOCKING PIN SWING GATES
Swing gates can be fitted with a locking pin. With some versions this is standard
and with others it is optional. Locking pins can be integrated in the leaf, such as in
the types Euro 2 and Europa, or mounted outside on the leaf, such as in the types
Proteus 2 and Swing.
This can be used to secure the leaves in the open position.
