Trace and localise short-circuits (example)
Start in your search for the short-circuit at the fuse box. Remove the defective fuse. Use Power Probe to apply a positive current to
each of the two contacts in the fuse box. At the short circuit side, the safety switch of the system is triggered. Use a circuit
diagram to identify the consumers connected to the fuse and the possible plug-in connections.
Follow the cable through the cable harness as far as possible.
Pull the cable from the cable strand and insert the probe tip. The LED lights up green. By pushing the rocker switch forward (+),
you can determine whether you have pulled out the correct cable (safety switch must trigger).
Separate possible plug-in connections or the cable and once more apply voltage to each end of the cable using the device.
If the safety switch is once again triggered on the short-circuit side at one end, repeat the procedure, until you have localised the
short-circuit.
