If you have little experience with bicycle maintenance, we recommend you
Your first ride
Before you wheel your bike out into traffic, we recommend you
practice handling the bike in a safe area, with the power setting at zero. After you are
comfortable with the operation of the bike, set the power setting at one. Keep in mind
that with the power setting at one, the throttle can still be used at full power, so be
careful using the throttle. The motor may look small, but it is very powerful. You will be
going faster than you think. Gradually go up to higher power levels, but keep in mind
that your mileage will be much higher at lower power levels.
Walking the bike
When you walk the bike, it is recommended that you adjust the
power level to zero – or turn the key off completely. This will insure that you do not
accidentally turn the throttle and cause the bike to move forward.
Battery cut-off
To prevent the battery from deep discharge, the controller has a
low voltage protection cut-off set at 31.5V. You may reboot the battery if it cuts off,
however continued use of the battery by switching off and on several times will cause
deep discharge and permanently damage the battery.
Road Conditions
This bike is not an off-road mountain bike and is designed to be
used on paved surfaces or smooth paths. When riding up extremely steep hills it is
recommended that you not strain the motor, use the lowest gear and use your leg
power as much as possible. Your bike will run much longer if you do not attempt
inclines that the average bike rider cannot ride.
