Installation Instructions

Leave this manual with party responsible for use 
and operation.

CAUTION! Risk of Cuts, Abrasions or Flying Debris. 

Wear protective gloves and safety glasses during instal-
lation. Sheet metal edges are sharp.

CAUTION! Do not install damaged components.

WARNING! Risk of Fire!  

Combustible materials 

MUST 

NOT

 overlap or be placed behind a decorative front.

WARNING! Risk of Fire! DO NOT

 apply combustible 

materials beyond the minimum clearances. Comply with 
all minimum clearances to combustibles as speci

fi

 ed  in 

appliance installation manual.

Note

: To avoid potential damage to hearth pad or flooring, 

protect area in front of fireplace by laying cardboard or 
blanket down.

A barrier designed to reduce the risk of 
burns from the hot viewing glass is provided 
with this appliance and shall be installed for 
the protection of children and other at-risk 
individuals.

The PRIMO appliance can be 

fi

 nished with 1/2 inch 

sheetrock.  Non-combustible 

fi

 nishing is not required.  

During operation, the sheetrock will remain cool to the 

touch.

Facing and Finishing - General Information

 ed. Framing closer than the 

minimums listed must be constructed entirely of noncom-
bustible materials (i.e., steel studs, concrete board, etc.).

Splatter Guard

The splatter guard is a piece of corrugated material 
used to protect the appliance during the installation 
process before 

fi

 nishing work on the whole hearth is 

complete. A splatter guard is factory-installed on PRI-
MO models.  Splatter guards must be removed before 
appliance is 

fi

 red.

WARNING! Risk of Fire! 

Remove the splatter guard be-

fore lighting the appliance.  Shut off gas to the appliance 
when the splatter guard is in place to prevent accidental 
operation.

Finishing Instructions 

It is important to follow the framing and 

fi

 nishing instruc-

tions to ensure proper placement of 

fi

 replace into the sur-

rounding framing/

fi

 nishing materials.

Wall sheathing materials 1/2 in. thick are speci

fi

 ed

 

in this installation manual to properly align with the op-
tional 

fi

 nishing methods offered with this appliance.  The 

PRIMO may be 

fi

 nished to the appliance opening with 1/2 

inch thick sheetrock.

Ensure that the one inch back clearance and one inch 
side clearances are maintained

.

clearances to combustibles.  Inadequate air space could 
cause overheating and 

fi

 re.

This appliance comes standard with patented 
SafeSurface

TM

 Glass which keeps the surface temperature 

of the barrier glass at a safe level and will still be hot to 
the touch when operated for long periods of time. 
If the barrier glass is removed, the inner glass temperature 
will be very hot and cause burns.
