CALIBRATION
– 549KL
Note: Only scale models with a date code of 4317 or greater can be calibrated.
This scale has been factory calibrated, and does not require calibration prior to use.
If
required, the scale can be calibrated.
For model 549KL, calibration is performed in either pounds or kilograms. In LB mode, 40
pounds are required for calibration, applied in 10 lb and 20 lb increments. In KG mode, 20
kilograms are required for calibration, applie d in 5 kg and 10 kg increments.
Before beginning the calibration procedure ensure the desired calibration unit of measure is
selected on the display (LB or KG). The unit of measure does not need to be locked the
calibration procedure.
Note: Only weights certified and traceable to national standards should be used for
calibration procedures.
549KL Calibration Procedure
– in LB Mode
Note: To calibrate in pounds, LB must be the selected unit on the display before starting
the calibration procedure.
ACTION
DISPLAY SHOWS
With the scale off, press and hold the
ON/TARE/OFF
button and the
kg/lb
button at the same time. When “CAL” appears on the display, release both
buttons. Numbers will appear indicating you can begin calibration.

When the calibration numbers stabilize, press the
ON/TARE/OFF
button.
“C10” will flash on the display.

Place 10 pounds on the scale. After stabilization,
“C20” will flash on the
display.
“C20”
Place an additional 10 pounds on the scale, for a total of 20 lb. After
stabilization
“C40” will flash on the display.
“C40”
Place an additional 20 lb on the scale, for a total of 40 lb. After stabilization,
“END” will appear on the display and the scale will automatically turn off.
The scale has been successfully calibrated.
