When using the appliance at a distance where an extension cord becomes necessary, a 3-conductor
grounding cord of adequate size must be used for safety, and to prevent loss of power and overheating.
Use the table below to determine A.W.G. wire size required. To determine ampere rating of your vacuum,
refer to nameplate located on rear of motor cover. Before using appliance, inspect power cord for loose
or exposed wires and damaged insulation. Make any needed repairs or replacements before using
your appliance. Use only three-wire outdoor extension cords which have three-prong grounding-type
plugs and three-pole receptacles which accept the extension cord’s plug. When vacuuming liquids, be
sure the extension cord connection does not come in contact with the liquid.
NOTE:
STATIC SHOCKS ARE COMMON IN DRY AREAS OR WHEN THE RELATIVE HUMIDITY OF THE AIR IS
LOW. THIS IS ONLY TEMPORARY AND DOES NOT AFFECT THE USE OF THE APPLIANCE. TO REDUCE THE
FREQUENCY OF STATIC SHOCKS IN YOUR HOME, THE BEST REMEDY IS TO ADD MOISTURE TO THE AIR
WITH A CONSOLE OR INSTALLED HUMIDIFIER.

UNPACkING AND SET-UP
1. Pull lid latches in an outward motion, remove tank cover and any accessories that may have
been shipped in the tank.
2.
Attach dolly, carriage handle and basket following the instructions and illustrations in this
manual.
3.
Before replacing tank cover, refer to Dry Pick-Up or Wet Pick-Up Operation in this manual
to ensure you have the proper filters installed and inlet deflector is positioned correctly for
your cleaning operation.
4. Setup the tank inlet based on the diameter hose you are using:
a. To use the 2 ½” (6.3 cm) diameter hose, install 3 ½” (8.8 cm) – 2 ½” (6.3 cm) inlet
adapter with removable inlet deflector, if not already installed. To install, position
inlet adapter inside tank with threaded side closest to tank inlet. The “J” shaped tab
on inlet adapter must be positioned towards top of tank
(Figure 1)
. Turn inlet adapter
slightly to the left and push into tank inlet
(Figure 2)
. Turn inlet adapter to the
right until “J” shaped tab locks the adapter into place
(Figure 3)
. Make sure inlet
adapter is secured in place.
NOTE:
If 3 ½” (8.8 cm) inlet deflector is installed it must
be removed before installing inlet adapter. To remove, gently pull “J” shaped tab on
inlet deflector towards center of tank while twisting inlet deflector to the left. Pull inlet
deflector away from tank inlet.
b. To use the 3 ½” (8.8 cm) diameter hoses,
(not standard with all models)
install 3 ½”
(8.8 cm) inlet deflector, if not already installed. To install, position inlet deflector inside
tank with flat side (containing circular opening) closest to tank inlet. The “J” shaped tab
on inlet deflector must be positioned towards top of tank
(Figure 4)
. Turn inlet deflector
slightly to the left and push onto tank inlet
(Figure 5)
. Turn inlet deflector to the right
until “J” shaped tab locks the deflector into place
(Figure 6)
. Make sure inlet deflector
is secured in place.
NOTE:
If 3 ½” (8.8 cm) – 2 ½” (6.3 cm) inlet adapter with removable
inlet deflector is installed it must be removed before installing inlet deflector. To remove,
gently pull “J” shaped tab on inlet adapter towards center of tank while twisting inlet
adapter to the left. Pull inlet adapter away from tank inlet.
5. Replace tank cover, and apply pressure with thumb to each latch until it snaps tightly in
place. Make sure all lid latches are clamped securely.
6. To use the 2
1
/
2
" (6.3 cm) diameter hose:
a. Insert long machine hose end with locking-nut onto inlet adapter and tighten locking-
nut. Do not over-tighten.
b. Attach the extension wands to the accessory end of hose. Twist slightly to tighten the
connection
(Figure 7)
.
c. Attach one of the cleaning accessories (depending on your cleaning requirements) on
the extension wands. Twist slightly to tighten the connection
(Figure 7)
.
7. To use the 3
1/2
” (8.8 cm) diameter hoses:
a. Install section of hose, without hose handle
(not standard with all models)
, by inserting
machine hose end with tab into tank inlet making sure tab on hose end snaps into slot
on tank
(Figure 8)
.
b. Install the second hose section, without hose handle, by inserting hose end with tab into
hose installed on unit. Make sure tab on one hose end snaps into slot on the other hose
end
(Figure 9)
. Repeat with section of hose containing hose handle.
c. Attach the angle nozzle
(not standard with all models)
to the accessory end of the
hose making sure the nozzle snaps into place
(Figure 10)
. Use this nozzle for quick
pickup of debris.
d. When picking up large amounts of debris, slide the wide lawn nozzle
(not standard
with all models)
onto the angle nozzle. Twist slightly to tighten the connection
(Figure
11)
. Place lawn nozzle onto the ground with the opening facing up, and use a broom to
sweep debris to nozzle
(Figure 12)
.
8. Plug the cord into the wall outlet. Your cleaner is ready for use.
