M 14 Injection system
General instructions:
All w
or
k on the injection system ma
y only be done in the v
oltage and pressure-free state (disconnect batter
y).
Dur
ing all w
or
k on the injection system, cleanliness m
ust be heeded in order to a
v
oid the entr
y of par
ticles into the injection system or the engine
.
After e
v
er
y loosening of a pressure tube
, it m
ust be replaced!
Mounting of injector
s on the engine
Remo
v
e the protectiv
e caps only r
ight bef
ore mounting.
Mak
e sure that the nozzle cap and thus the injection holes are not damaged.
Moisten e
x-
ter
ior gask
ets (O-r
ings) with installation oil, engine oil or diesel.
Lubr
icants and glide agents that contain w
ater are not per
missib
le
.
Bef
ore mounting, it ma
y be necessar
y to chec
k the correct position of the copper sealing disk on the nozzle clamping n
ut.
Attention m
ust be paid that the injector is inser
ted into the cylinder head bore without damage
. A tr
ansmission of f
orce to the retur
n connection or
the plastic o
v
er
mold m
ust be a
v
oided.
All plug connectors m
ust be snapped in securely and loc
k
ed dur
ing mounting.
The cap n
ut of the high-pressure line m
ust be f
astened proper
ly bef
ore star
t-up
.
If necessar
y, injector-specific data such as the IMA code m
ust be tr
ansf
erred to the control unit.
These ser
v
e the correct activ
ation of the injectors
and thus the intended oper
ation.
The injector does not ha
v
e to be v
entilated bef
ore initial star
t-up
.
Dismounting of injector
s on the engine
The dismounting of the injectors m
ust be done analogously to the mounting.
Open connections m
ust be sealed with protectiv
e caps
.
T
o loosen the high-pressure scre
w connection, hold the he
xagon of the inlet connector tight.
With a loosened inlet connector
, the high-pressure
seal of the injector is no longer guar
anteed.
Remounting of injector
s on the engine
After each loosening of an injector
, the old copper sealing r
ing m
ust be remo
v
ed and a ne
w one used.
In order to get cylinder-specific correction data f
or the engine controller
, the injectors should be inser
ted on the or
iginal cylinder when re-using.
In
pr
inciple
, the installation on other cylinders is also possib
le
, ho
w
e
v
er only if the IMA correction v
alues are read into the control unit again.
Injectors can be cleaned bef
ore re-installation belo
w the high-pressure connection in v
er
tical position in the ultr
asound bath.
Mechanical cleaning of the nozzle shaft with br
ushes is imper
missib
le in order to pre
v
ent damage to the injection holes
.
