3. Safety Distances
The indicated safety distances apply to flammable
materials or materials with flammable parts with a
thermal resistance of R ≤ 6 m²K/W.
For particularly temperature-sensitive materials like
glass, larger distances may be necessary.
Within a radius of 120 cm in front of and 35 cm
around the stove, flammable, combustible, or
heat-sensitive materials (e.g. furniture, wood or
plastic panelling, curtains, etc.) are not allowed to
be located in the heat radiating area of the fire box
window (fig. 1).
Outside the radiation area of the fire box window,
a safety distance of 20 cm to flammable materials
is to comply sideways and behind the stove
(fig. 1). Above the stove, the safety distance of
75 cm to flammable materials has to be complied
with.
No flammable or temperature-sensitive materials
may be present within a radius of 20 cm around the
flue pipe connection (wall or room ceiling).
WARNING!
Flammable flooring materials (e.g., wood,
laminate, carpeting,) must be protected
with a floorplate made of non-combustible
material (e.g., tiles, safety glass, slate, or
sheet steel).
The size of the floorplate must be larger
than the base of the stove by at least 50
cm in front and at least 19 cm at the sides
of the stove (Fig. 2).
4. Fuel Load Sizes and Thermal Output
The thermal output depends on the amount of fuel
you put in the stove. When adding more fuel, please
do not exceed the maximum fuel load size of 1,7 kg.
Exceeding the maximum fuel load size leads to a
danger of overheating, which can result in damage
to the stove and the risk of a stove fire.
NOTE!
To attain a thermal output of approx. 6
kWm, burn wood logs that weigh 1.5 kg
and are no longer than 25 cm in length for
about 45 min. (1.6 kg / 60 min. at brown
-
coal briquettes).
The Jena is intended for intermittent operation,
please only apply one fuel layer at a time.
4.1 Wood Briquettes
You can also fuel your Jena with wood briquettes
as specified in DIN 51731 Hb2 or of equal quality.
Please note that wood briquettes swell and expand
during combustion. As compared to the amount of
fuel when using logs, reduce the amount by approx.
10-20% based on the calorific value of the wood bri
-
quettes. The control element settings and procedure
are the same as when burning logs.
