RLS-II

Ever since its introduction in 1992
Harman Kardon RLS (Real-time Linear
Smoothing) conversion technology has
been bailed as an efficient, high
performance means of transforming the
16-bit signal from CD to a high quality
analog signal. The short RLS signal
path resulted in hitherto unknown
clarity and detail, in combination with
awesome dynamic resolution of the
critical bass frequencies. RLS-II is a
natural, yet radical evolution of the
original RLS concept. By employing 4
D/A-converters in tandem (two per
channel), linearity, signal-to-noise ratio
and dynamic range are all significantly
improved. Naturally, the RLS-II circuit
takes advantage of the development of
superior converters in recent years. The
Burr-Brown PCM 1702-K is known for
it’s inherent linearity and dynamic
range, and in RLS-II this is further
enhanced by the use of four converters
in current mode.

HDCD

The HDCD digital filter from Pacific
Microsonics offers up to 24-bit
resolution, resulting in outstanding
sound not only from HDCD-encoded
discs, but also providing superior
resolution from standard Compact Discs.
