Defrosting and cleaning the
freezer compartment
WARNING
Danger of explosion!
Improper handling of the appliance
may lead to deflagration/explosion!
■
Never use defrosting sprays. They can
generate explosive gases.
NOTICE
Risk of damage!
When cleaning, please note:
■
Never use harsh, granular, so-
da-based, solvent-based or abrasive
cleaners. We recommend all-purpose
cleaners with a neutral pH.
■
The door seal is sensitive to oil and
grease - the rubber becomes porous
and brittle as a result.
■
The door seals can be damaged by
unsuitable cleaning agents. Use care
products only on the outer surfaces.
■
Use only soft cloths for cleaning.
If possible, defrost the appliance in
winter when the outside temperature is
low. You can then store the food on the bal-
cony (or similar) while defrosting.
Alternatively, you can wrap up the frozen
food in a thick layer of newspaper and store
it in a cool room or insulated bag.
1. Disconnect the mains plug from the sock-
et or switch off the fuse.
2. Remove the chilled food from the fridge
and the frozen food from the freezer.
3. Ensure that your food is kept cool enough.
4. To accelerate defrosting, place a bowl of
hot, but not boiling, water in the freezer
compartment. This will accelerate the de-
frosting process.
5. Leave the door open while defrosting and
place a floor cloth in front of the appliance
to catch thaw water which may come out.
The defrosting time depends on the thick-
ness of the ice layer. Experience dictates
that it is possible to start cleaning after
approx. 1 hour.
6. Wipe down the inside with warm water
and washing-up liquid.
7. When wiping clean, add a few drops of
vinegar to the water to prevent mould
from forming.
8. Clean the door seals with clean water
only; they are sensitive to oil and fat.
9. Wipe everything completely dry, including
the door seals, and allow to air briefly.
10. Return the food to the fridge or freezer
compartment.
11. Connect the mains plug to the socket or
switch on the fuse again.
12. Set the temperature to +2 °C.
13. When this temperature is reached, return
the temperature setting to its usual level.
