Use of PositioningSling, disposable
Applying the sling
1.
Roll the client onto his/her side. Maximize her/his participation.
2.
Fold the sling in half lengthwise with the label showing on the outside of the fold. Lay the folded edge along
the length of the client approximately one hand width away from the client’s spine/body.
3.
Roll the top folded layer of the sling towards the client. Make sure all straps are tucked into the roll. Push the
material down into the mattress and under the client.
4.
Return the client to supine and roll her/him to the other side.
5.
Unroll the top layer of the sling out until flat. Return the client to supine. The sling should be flat under the
client with straps free on all sides.
Sling bar orientation
The sling bar can be oriented widthwise or lengthwise to the client. However, widthwise
orientation is recommended to ensure a balanced weight distribution during lifting. For
turning of the body, for example for turning in bed, the sling bar can be oriented lengthwise.
