Windows 2000 Professional with service pack 4
Save and close all other programs running on your laptop before you start installing
the software.
Start your laptop and log on to Windows 2000 as an Administrator or as a User with
administrator privileges. After the operating system has loaded completely, insert the
Hama USB 2.0 PC card into your laptop.
Windows Installation Assistant
starts and
recognises the hardware automatically and integrates the required drivers in your
system in the background. Please wait until a balloon tip appears in your notifi cation
area that informs you that the hardware has been successfully installed and that you
can now use it. The Hama USB 2.0 PC card cannot be used until this message has
appeared.
Important instructions for Windows 2000 Professional
You can check whether the PC card was properly installed in Device Manager.
To check, click
Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> System
. In the
System Properties
window, select ->
Hardware -> Device Manager
.
The following entries must appear in the USB Controller section without a yellow
exclamation mark.
USB Controllers
• Nec PCI to USB Open Host Controller
• Nec PCI to USB Open Host Controller
• Standard PCI to USB enhanced Host Controller
• USB root hub
• USB root hub
• USB 2.0 root hub
