The washing machine fails 

to operate 

•  Incorrect connection to power supply
•  Power failur e
•  Door is not properly closed
•  Washing machine has not been switched on

•  Check power supply
•  Check door is properly closed
•  Check that the machine is on

The washing machine does 

not fill with water

•  Water tap is not turned on
•  Water pressure is too low
•  Inlet hose is kinked
•  Water supply failure
•  Programme selection dial is not properly set
•  Door is not properly closed

•  Check water supply is connected to a 

domestic mains supply and that the tap is 

fully open

•  Check that hoses ar e not bent or crushed
•   Turn dial to correct position
•  Check door is properly closed

The washing machine is 

continuously  lling and 

draining (self-syphoning)

•  Drain hose is too low

•  Check that the height of the drain hose is 

above 80cm

The washing machine does 

not drain

•  Drain hose is blocked
•  End of drain hose is mor e than 100cm 

above floor level

•  Check the drain hose

There is strong vibration 

during the spin cycle

•  Some packing bolts not removed
•  Washing machine is on an uneven surface

•  Check that packing bolts ar e removed
•  Use a spirit level to check the machine is 

level

Operation stops before the 

wash cycle has completed

•  Water or electrical failure

•  Check power and water supply

Excessive foam in the drum

•  Detergent is not a low foam type
•  Excessive detergent has been used

•  Check deter gent type
•  Use less detergent
