Low Set Point Example
3.17.4 Selecting Alarm Relay Options (lfit)
Defining alarm operation parameters is accomplished from the “lfit” (Latching,
Fail-safe, Inhibit, and Test) selection located within either the “Al 1" or “Al 2"
menus. When lfit is selected and entered, the “0” (or “1”) under the letter “l”
will begin blinking. To enable or disable the “l” (latching) parameter, use the
arrow icons to select “1” (enable) or “0” (disable). When selected, select
E
and
the next relay option will begin blinking and be ready for change. This is
repeated until all four relay options have been selected and the cursor is
redisplayed.
3.17.4.1 Latching Relay Alarm (l)
The latching relay alarm mode (manual reset) is selected by entering a “1”
under the “l” in the lfit parameter. A latched alarm relay requires that when the
chlorine concentration no longer constitutes an alarm condition, the relay has
to be reset to its normal condition by selecting any of the front panel icons.
Conversely, a non-latching relay is selected by entering a “0” under the “l” in
the lfit parameter. A non-latched alarm relay will reset to its normal condition
automatically when the chlorine concentration no longer constitutes an alarm
condition.
3.17.4.2 Fail-Safe Relay Mode (f)
A fail-safe relay is selected by entering a “1” under the “f” in the lfit parameter.
Fail-safe designates the mode of operation for a relay where the relay coil is
normally energized and will de-energize when alarm conditions are met.
Conversely, Non-Fail-safe relay (Normal) operation (“f” value set to “0”) is
when the relay coil is normally de-energized and will energize when alarm
conditions are met.
3.17.4.3 Inhibit (i)
Inhibit alarm keeps the relay in the “no alarm” state. This allows for system
maintenance or alarm reconfiguration without setting off alarms. To inhibit the
alarm relay, enter a “1” under the “i” in the lfit parameter.
3.17.4.4 Test (t)
Test will activate the alarm relay and any external devices attached to the
alarm. To activate alarm relay test enter a “1” in the “t” in the “lfit” parameter.
The relay will remain activated as long as the “t” bit remains set to 1.
An alarm relay Test cannot be performed if the alarm relay has been inhibited
3.17.5 Check Alarm Relay Setup
The check alarm relay operation (lfit) may be defined in the same manner as
described for Alarm relays 1 and 2 (see
). Note that the conditions which activate the check alarm relay are
defined by the monitor’s software program and cannot be defined by the
operator. Refer
for information regarding system
failure conditions that may activate the relay.
