2.8 Data Communications
Data communication configurations for the 8450 monitor include: 1) No
Communications option, 2) RS232 with data logging option, and 3) RS485
with data logging option.
The default communications data format is 9600 baud, 8-bit word, 1 stop bit,
and no parity. Baud and parity can be changed in the COMM menu in the
General menu (see
).
2.8.1 RS232 Communications
Monitors with the RS232 with data logging option can dump data to a
personal computer (PC) or a printer connected to the four-conductor Din
connector at the base of the monitor via Personal Computer Serial Cable
(Cat. No. 16086). The data dump must be initiated at the Residual Chlorine
Monitor by a key sequence at the monitor’s front panel (see
). Serial cable connections are shown in
and
.
Note:
To send data to a printer using the PC cable, it may be necessary to swap the
position of the wires connected to pins 2 and 3 at the TB6 terminal block on the
power supply board shown in
. A male to female connector adaptor may
also be required.
