Setting Main Screen Time, Date, Temperature, and Concentration Units
3.9 Setting Main Screen Time, Date, Temperature, and Concentration Units
Time, date, and units for temperature and concentration may be changed on
the Model 8450.
From the Main menu, place the magnet over the
Up
arrow icon. This activates
and permits movement of the cursor. Move the cursor next to the date and
select
E
. The parameter will begin to blink. Use the arrow icons to scroll
through to the desired day then select
E
. Proceed using this same technique
to select the desired month then year. When finished, select the
E
icon. Use
the same procedure to change the time (hours/minutes), temperature units
(°F or °C), and concentration units (ppm or mg/L).
Note:
Parts per million (ppm) and milligram per liter (mg/L) are equivalent units, that is,
1.0 ppm equals 1.0 mg/L.
3.10 Setting Maximum Range
Prior to Span calibration, set the maximum range value to the highest chlorine
concentration that will be measured by the monitor. Setting the “RNG”
parameter (found in the “RDG” menu) helps optimize gain control during span
calibration.
Settings are: 5,10,15, and 20 (default). Greatest accuracy is obtained when
the Maximum Range setting is not set excessively higher than it can be
reasonably expected to occur at a specific site. For example, there is nothing
to be gained by setting the Maximum Range to 20 at a site which has never
exceeded 5 ppm and is not expected to do so in the future.
3.11 System Calibration
Calibration of the instrument is accomplished with two major procedures
known as ZERO and SPAN. If problems are experienced with calibration after
following these guidelines and procedures, see
