4.2 Configuration Fundamentals
4.2.1 Basic Configuration Procedures
Following are the basic steps that you can follow to configure you
VG 31-08.
Step 1: Figure out networking requirements.
Step 2: Draw a networking topology based on the requirements.
Step 3: Configure voice parameters according to the
requirements.
Step 4: Configure routes and other features.

4.2.2 Features of the Command Line Interface
The VG series voice gateways provide the command line
interface (CLI), which allows you to implement hierarchical protections
against unauthorized users. In system view, all the commands are put
into different groups for the convenience of management, each group
being associated to a view. You can switch between the views by
executing particular commands. In normal circumstances, you can
only execute the commands appropriate to the view that you access.
However, you are allowed to execute in any view some common
commands, such as
ping

display
, and
interface
. The CLI offers a
series of configuration commands for you to configure and manage
your voice gateway. It allows you to:
