Installing a power module
The S9804 switch provides two power module slots and supports 1+1 power module redundancy.
The S9810 switch provides four power module slots and supports N+1 and N+N power module
redundancy. N can be 1 or 2.
You can install one or more power modules for the switch. For more information about the power
modules available for the switch, see "
Appendix B FRUs and compatibility matrixes
."
To avoid device damage and bodily injury, follow the procedure in
to install and power on
the power module.
Figure 33 Installation procedure
To install a power module:
1.
Wear an ESD wrist strap and make sure it makes good skin contact and is reliably grounded.
2.
Remove the filler panel (if any) before installing the power module. Thread a flat-blade
screwdriver through the power module handle and pull out the filler panel gently as shown
in
Figure 34 Removing a filler panel
3.
Unpack the power module and verify that the power module model is as required.
4.
Correctly orient the power module, grasp the handle of the power module with one hand and
support its bottom with the other, and slide the power module slowly along the guide rails into
the slot until it has firm contact with the connectors on the backplane.
To avoid damage to the connector of the power module, insert the power module gently. If you
encounter resistance while inserting the power module, pull out the power module and insert it
again.
