Appendix D Cooling system 

The cooling system of the switch includes the air vents in the chassis, fan trays, and built-in fans of hot 

swappable power modules. For correct operation of this cooling system, you must consider the site 

ventilation design when you plan the installation site for the switch.  

Cooling system of the S5560-HI switches except for 

S5560-56C-PWR-HI 

All S5560-HI switches except for the S5560-56C-PWR-HI switch support hot-swapping of fan trays. The 

switches use the LSWM1FANSCE and LSWM1FANSCBE fan trays.

When the LSWM1FANSCE fan tray is used, ambient air flows in through the air vents in the fan tray 
and power module panels, circulates through the chassis and the power modules, and exhausts 

through the air vents in the port side panel, as shown in 

Figure 63

.

When the LSWM1FANSCBE fan tray is used, ambient air flows in through the air vents in the 
port-side panel and power module panel, circulates through the chassis and the power modules, 

and exhausts through the air vents in the fan tray panel, as shown in 

Figure 64

.
