This option allows you to run several sub-
applications. Tapping Open will bring up a browser to access
several different connectivity options.
• Firmware Update:
This pushes a firmware update to the
antenna. Firmware is the name for a series of programs which
control the various components on the HS Module attached to the antenna. Firmware is different from
the UI (user interface) version which is the software that runs on the tablet. The current firmware
version is displayed in the “Device Firmware” menu below the “System” menu.
• SW Calibration:
This opens an app that calibrates the survey wheel (if used). GSSI recommends that
you calibrate your survey wheel for each survey because a correct calibration value will produce more
accurately positioned data. To calibrate, first select a travel distance and line your GS Series antenna
at one end. Then click Start. Move the antenna to the other end and click Stop. Make sure to start and
end using the same location on the survey setup. GSSI recommends using the middle grooves of the
antenna or the front edge to start/finish on. If you are satisfied with the new value, click Calibrate to
save this value.
