Setting the dynamic volume range
Dolby digital soundtracks have a very large dynamic volume range, hence there
is a great difference in volume between quiet and loud tones. When played at
full volume this can be a fascinating experience, which may however cause
disturbance late at night.
Simply reducing the volume does not produce pleasing results, and the dialogue
becomes difficult to understand. In order to achieve the desired results, you
would have to reduce the volume only for the louder sounds, increase the volu-
me during quieter scenes and maintain the volume of the dialogue. Adjustment
is done with the following setting. You can change the volume relations in three
steps.
