Setting the time zone
The time signal transmitter DCF 77 transmits the time
valid in middle-europe, or the Daylight Saving Time of
middle-europe. When using your Sonoclock 720 e.g.
in the U.K., you can set the clock one hour earlier, as
follows:
• Disconnect the mains plug to the wall socket.
• Remove the standby battery (if fitted)
• Press and hold the
TIME
button while inserting the
AC mains plug in the socket.
– The Sonoclock will start to receive the DCF time
signals and will automatically adjust the time one
hour earlier than the received DCF time.
Automatic time setting
When the clock has been connected to the mains
supply or when a standby battery has been fitted, the
built-in microprocessor will automatically activate the
receiver of the Radio Controlled Clock to search for
the DCF time signals and set itself exactly
corresponding to the time signal.
If the synchronisation is impossible due to possible
sources of interference (e.g. thunderstorms, nearby TV
sets, computers or household appliances which are
not radio-suppressed, etc.), the sonoclock 720 will
continue to try receiving the radio time signal until it
succeeds.
If a DCF time is successfully received during the last
hour, the
DCF
6
LED (right of the display) lights up.
The LED goes out again when no correct signal is
received in the last hour.
Once the time has been set automatically, the clock
continues running being controlled by the internal
quartz time base (4,19 MHz).
The precision of the clock is not significantly affected
even in case the synchronisation is only successful a few
times per day.

reception.
– The wire aerial at the back of the set is used
for VHF (FM) reception.
• Position the wire aerial so that optimum
reception is obtained.
Showing the DCF signal strength
• By pressing at the same time the

started all over again.
The display shows the signal strength
and the seconds.
– The signal strength is shown in 7 steps:
‘6’ indicates a very good reception and
‘0’ indicates that no signal is being
received.
– This indication is shown on the display
until a DCF time has been received
correctly or until the
TIME
