To check/adjust belt tracking:
1. DISCONNECT MACHINE FROM POWER!
2. Use key to unlock and open belt access door.
3. Standing at front of machine, rotate either
wheel by hand so belt moves in direction of
operation (counterclockwise on wheels and
toward work rest), and watch how belt tracks
on contact wheel (see
Figure 15).
The purpose of belt tracking is to make sure the
belt stays centered on the wheels during grinding
operations. Although belt tracking is set at the fac-
tory, it needs to be checked any time you change
or replace the belt.
You must perform the following procedure after
installing a grinding belt to ensure that the belt
does not come off or get jammed against the
machine frame.
Fingers or hands can be quickly injured if
they touch moving abrasive surfaces. To
reduce this risk, wear gloves in next step.
