4. Check cutterhead contact with wood blocks.
— If cutterhead makes even contact between
wood blocks, no adjustment is needed.
— If cutterhead only touches one wood block,
continue to
Step 5.
5. Loosen set screws on side of headstock to be
adjusted (see
Figure 42).
6. Raise or lower headstock using adjustment
nuts (see
Figure 42) until cutterhead evenly
touches wood blocks.
7. Re-tighten set screws and nuts.
8. Raise headstock slightly, then lower until it
just contacts wood blocks. Contact should
be even across blocks. If contact is not even,
repeat
Steps 5–7 until cutterhead is parallel.
9. Plane a test piece to confirm even cut depth
across width of workpiece.
