8.3 HYDRAULIC TANK
1. Place an open-top container that will hold at least
4 quarts of oil under the unit behind the right tire.
2. Loosen the hose clamps, pull the larger two hoses,
one at a time, from the 90
o
fitting and drain in to the
container. This will allow the hydraulic tank to
drain. Pull the small hose and drain. Cap hoses if
possible to prevent contamination of system.
3. Remove the support bracket by removing the two
1/2" nut and bolts holding it to the frame. Remove
the fill cap to free bracket from tank.
4. Remove the two tank fittings.
5. Inspect and replace any parts as needed.
6. Reverse the disassembly procedure to
reassemble.
7. When replacing the tank fitting, use a teflon tape or
sealant on the threads and install them at a 90
o
down position.
NOTE: Use caution not to over torque fittings into plas-
tic tank. Tank inserts are molded into tank and if over
torqued could cause a leak.
8.4 LIFT CYLINDER
1. Place an open-top container under the cylinder.
2. Remove the two hydraulic hoses at the cylinder
and drain into container. Cap hoses if possible to
prevent contamination of system.
3. Remove the 3/4" nut and bolt cylinder pivot
bracket.
4. Remove the cotter pin from the sulky pivot point
and slide the cylinder off.
5. Inspect and replace any parts as needed.
6. Reverse the disassembly procedure to
reassemble.
NOTE: Adjusting the lifting height of the mower deck
may be necessary if a new hydraulic cylinder is
installed. Loosen the jam nut on the lifting rod end and
turn the rod end assembly in or out as needed. Tighten
the jam nut after completing adjustment.
8.5 LIFT PUMP
1. Have an open-top container handy to drain
hydraulic hoses when removed.
2. Remove the hydraulic hoses and drain into
container. Cap hoses if possible to prevent
contamination of system.
3. Remove the two Allen bolts and lift the pump from
the pump housing.
NOTE: Pump is not repairable.
4. Inspect and repair any worn parts.
5. Reverse the disassembly procedure to
reassemble.
6. Align pump drive shaft to drive slot.
8.6 PUMP HOUSING
NOTE: The hydraulic hoses do not need to be discon-
nected.
1. Remove the four 9/16" mounting bolts, lift the
housing out.
2. Remove the top and bottom retaining rings from
housing. If needed, bump the shaft out with a soft
hammer. Use caution not to damage the shaft.
Remove the bearings.
3. Inspect and replace any worn or damaged parts.
4. Reverse the disassembly procedure to
reassemble.
CAUTION: Block the rear of the power unit so
that when the cylinder is disconnected the
frame doesn’t flip back and cause injury to
someone or damage to the unit.
When the lift valve is in "float" position, the cylinder
(HP) hose will bleed through the valve to the valve
return (LP) hose.
