TROUBLESHOOTING

Symptom

Problem

Test Solution

Pilot will not light and /

or makes noise with no

spark at pilot burner.

Pilot sparks but will

not light.

Carbon is being

deposited on glass,

media or combustion

chamber surfaces

Battery.

 –

Wiring.

 –

Loose connection.

Module.

–

Igniter spark gap is incorrect.

–

Electrode. –

A shorted or loose - connection.

Improper switch wiring.

 –

Module is not grounded.

–

Gas supply.

–

Out of propane gas.

 –

Air shutter has become - blocked.

Flame is impinging on the - glass, media

or combustion chamber.

Check batteries.

Verify the wire for the sensor and the wire for the

ignitor are connected to the correct terminals (not

reversed) on the module. NOTE: Sensor has 3/16”

(4.8mm) connection and ignitor has 1/8” (3.2mm)

connection.

Verify no loose connections, electrical shorts in the

wiring or ground out to any metal object.

Turn the ON/OFF switch to the “OFF” position. Re-

move the igniter wire from the module. Place the ON/

OFF switch to the “ON” position. Hold a grounded wire

about 3/16" (4.8mm) away from the ignitor (spark)

terminal on the module. If no spark the ignitor termi-

nal module must be replaced. If there is a spark the

ignitor terminal is fine.

Spark gap of the ignitor to the pilot should be 1/8”

(3.2mm).

Inspect pilot assembly for a shorted wire or cracked

insulator around the electrode.

Remove and reinstall the wiring harness that plugs

into the module. Remove and verify continuity of each

wire in wiring harness.

Troubleshoot the system with the simplest ON/OFF

switch.

Verify the valve and pilot assemblies are properly

grounded to the metal chassis of the appliance

.

Verify that the incoming gas line ball valve is “Open”.

Verify that the inlet pressure reading is within

acceptable limits, inlet pressures must not exceed

14" W.C.(34.9mb).

Fill the tank.

Ensure air shutter opening is free of lint or other

obstructions.

Check that the glass, logs, rocks or media are

correctly positioned.

Open air shutter to increase the primary air.

Check the input rate: check the manifold pressure and

orifice size as specified in the instructions.
