nontransport mode, the patient must
remain fully upright, patient should never
be reclined, and patient must never be
unattended.

patient should be placed in a fully upright
position with chair in low height.
WARNING: The patient should never be
transported when the VIC is in a recline
position.
WARNING: When patient is seated in the
chair, the side rails should be up and the
patient should be secured with safety
straps.
3.8.2 Nontransport Mode
(Anterior / Posterior Position)
To Enter Nontransport Mode
Lock the caster brakes: depress the red pedal
at the foot end of the unit on the patient’s left,
circled in red in Fig. 3.8-5, to approximately
45°.
Secure patient with safety straps. Elevate chair
to maximum height (Fig. 3.8-7). Pull out on the
seat lock knob, circled in red in Fig. 3.8-6, to
release lock. Rotate chair counterclockwise
until it locks into nontransport mode
(Fig. 3.8-7).
3.8.3 Transport Mode (Lateral Position)
To Enter Transport Mode
Pull out on the seat lock knob, circled in red
in Fig. 3.8-6, to release lock. Rotate the chair
clockwise 90° until it locks into transport
mode (Fig. 3.8-8). Ensure the chair is locked in
transport mode (Fig. 3.8-8) before transporting
or reclining the patient. The green arrow label
on the seat will be in line with the green arrow
label on the base circled in red in Fig. 3.8-8.
