MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR
sleeve (06AD) to replace the shaft bearing (06AE)
or lip seal (06AT, “R” size pump only). The bearing
sleeve is a tight press fit into the backhead (06A).
Do not remove the bearing sleeve unless replace-
ment is required.
The bearing sleeve has four 3/16-inch (4,8 mm) di-
ameter holes in the shoulder that the shaft bearing
seats against. Use a hammer and punch to tap the
shaft bearing through the holes in an alternating
sequence until the bearing is free from the throttle
bushing sleeve.
NOTE
“R” size pumps are equipped with a separate bear-
ing lip seal (06AT). Remove the lip seal along with
the shaft bearing.
If it is necessary to remove the bearing sleeve, use
an arbor (or hydraulic) press and a suitably sized
dowel to press the sleeve out of the backhead.
Backhead Kit (06) Disassembly
(Packing Seal or Clamped Seat Seal Options
Only)
(Figures E-1 and E-4)
Remove the screws (B) securing the backhead as-
sembly (06A) to the housing assembly (04), and
separate the assemblies. Remove and discard the
gasket (06B).
Packing and clamped seat seal pumps use a
throttle bushing in place of the shaft bearing
(06AE) shown in Figure E-1.
NOTE
The shaft bushing (06AE) may be damaged during
removal. Do not remove the shaft bushing unless
replacement is required. Due to tight tolerances,
the throttle bushing sleeve (06AD) must be re-
moved from the backhead in order to replace the
shaft bushing (06AE).
Use an arbor (or hydraulic) press and a suitably
sized dowel to press the throttle bushing sleeve
(06AD) out of the backhead.

Housing Assembly (04)
There are two plugs (P) in the back side of
the housing for manufacturing purposes
only.
Do not
remove these plugs. Remov-
ing the plugs may cause damage to the
pump and/or result in pump leakage.
PUMP REASSEMBLY
Use caution when handling the idler (02A)
and the rotor shaft assembly (03A). These
parts have sharp edges which will grow
sharper with use.
Cleaning and Inspection
Most cleaning solvents are toxic and
flammable. Use them only in a well ven-
tilated area free from flame, sparks, and
excessive heat. Read and follow all pre-
cautions printed on solvent containers.
Clean and inspect the pump parts (except the
bearings and seal assembly) with a cloth soaked in
