MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR
To fill the seal cavity, remove the pipe plug (11) and
add the recommended grade of submersible
pump oil. Apply `Loctite Pipe Sealant With Teflon
No. 592' or equivalent to the threads of the pipe
plug, before reinstalling the plug.
See Table E-2 for quantity of lubricant when lubri
cating a dry (overhauled) pump. See Table E-3 for
lubricant specifications.
The grade of lubricant used is critical to the opera
tion of this pump. Use premium quality hydraulic oil
as specified in Table E-3. Oil must be stored in a
clean, tightly closed container in a reasonably dry
environment.

Motor Housing Cavity
With the pump in an upright position, remove the
pipe cap (27) on the top of the pump. See Table
E-2 and add the recommended quantity of lubri
cant to the motor cavity.
Maintain the oil at this
level
. Apply `Loctite Pipe Sealant With Teflon No.
592' or equivalent sealant to the threads of the
street tee assembly (28). Reinstall and tighten the
cap.
Never attempt to fill the motor cavity
through the drain plug (10) opening. A vol
ume of air must be trapped above the mo
tor to permit thermal expansion of the mo
tor oil.
