Since pump installations are seldom identical, this
section offers only general recommendations and
practices required to inspect and install the
AirMate
T
Automatic Air Release Valve. Refer to the
literature accompanying the pump or contact the
factory for specific pump installation instructions.

, Section E
in this manual for disassembly and reassembly of
the Automatic Air Release Valve.
PREINSTALLATION INSPECTION
The Automatic Air Release Valve was fully as-
sembled and inspected before shipment from the
factory. Before installation, inspect the valve for
damage which may have occurred during ship-
ment. Check as follows:
a. Inspect the valve for cracks, dents, damaged
threads, and other obvious damage.
b. Check for and tighten loose attaching hard-
ware at mating surfaces.
Air Release Valve Identification
Air Release Valves are not readily identifiable by
their individual part numbers. There are, however,
two ways to identify your specific Air Release Valve.
The first method is to look at the large pipe plug in
the top of the valve. A letter A" stamped into the top
of the plug indicates a GRP33−07A valve, a letter
B" stamped into the plug indicates a GRP33−07B
valve, and no letter stamped into the plug indicates
a GRP33−07 valve.
The second method of identifying your Air Release
Valve requires disassembling the valve. Once dis-
assembled, refer to the part number and material
codes molded into the valve diaphragms.
AIR RELEASE VALVE INSTALLATION
The Automatic Air Release Valve must be mounted
in a horizontal position and connected to the dis-
charge line of the self-priming centrifugal pump
(see Figure B−1).

If the Air Release Valve is to be installed on a
staged
pump application, contact the factory for specific
installation instructions.
