Safety Section
1-11
Never attempt adjustments while the engine is running unless otherwise specified in this manual.
Stay clear of all rotating and moving parts. Guards should be in place whenever maintenance is not being
performed.
Wear protective glasses when striking objects to avoid injury to your eyes.
Chips or other debris can fly off objects when struck. Make sure no one can be injured by flying debris before
striking any object.
Mounting or dismounting
Do not jump off the machine. Always use steps and handholds when mounting and dismounting.
Clean steps, handholds and areas of the machine you will be working on or around.
Preparing to start the machine
Be sure that all protective guards and covers are installed if the machine must be started to make adjustments or
checks. To help prevent an accident caused by parts in rotation, work carefully around them.
Inspect the machine for potential hazards.
Make sure no one is working on, or close to the machine before starting or moving it.
Cleaning the machine
When washing the machine after a day of use, the machine travel, conveyor, augers and trimmer must be
stopped.
Stop the auger(s) and/or conveyor belt. Wash the exposed surfaces of the auger(s) and/or conveyor. Make
certain that all personnel are clear of the auger(s) and/or conveyor. Rotate the auger(s), or the conveyor one
quarter to one third of a turn and stop them. Wash the exposed surfaces and repeat the procedure until the
auger(s) and/or conveyor are clean.
Do not stand on the conveyor when cleaning it. If the machine is equipped with a folding conveyor, keep the area
around it clear when folding or unfolding.
The high pressure wash system uses high pressure water. Do not aim the nozzle at any part of the body as
serious injury can occur. Wear proper eye protection when cleaning the machine.
Make certain that pressure wash hoses are kept clear of moving parts. Make certain that the pressure wash
hoses are kept in good condition and are not frayed or broken.
Transporting or lifting the machine
Use factory approved tie down points (painted red) when transporting the machine. Use appropriate tie down
techniques and safety practices.
When lifting the entire machine make certain to use factory approved lifting points (painted red) and appropriate
lifting techniques and safety practices. Make certain the lifting crane is suitable for the machine weight.
GOMACO does not recommend transporting the machine completely assembled because of possible width,
length and/or weight limitations. Be certain to have the proper permits and placarding when transporting the
machine.
