Intended Use
• Petrol-powered electricity generating set with air-cooled, 4-stroke engine, producing
either 110 or 230V alternating current at 50Hz, to supply electric power tools and small- to
medium-sized home appliances
Unpacking your Tool
WARNING: This device is very heavy and should NOT be
unpacked and handled by a single person.
• Carefully unpack and inspect your tool. Fully familiarise
yourself with all its features and functions
• Ensure that all parts of the tool are present and in good
condition. If any parts are missing or damaged, have such
parts replaced before attempting to use this tool
Before Use
Filling with engine oil
WARNING: This generator is supplied without oil or fuel. DO NOT pull the Recoil Starter Cord
(16) and attempt to start the engine before you have filled the engine with the appropriate
type and amount of oil.
Note: This generator features a low-oil sensor that prevents the engine from starting if oil
levels are low.
Note: Always place the generator on a level surface before filling engine oil or checking oil/
fuel levels.
• Engine oil is a m-ajor factor affecting engine performance and life
• Good quality SAE 10W-40 4-stroke engine oil is recommended for general, all-
temperature use
• Other viscosities may be used if the average temperature in your area is within the ranges
indicated in Fig. A
1. Ensure the Engine Switch (1) is in the ‘OFF’ position
2. Remove the dipstick from the Engine Oil Fill Point (8) by
rotating it anticlockwise
Note: If the generator is new, there should be no oil visible on
the dipstick. Otherwise, wipe off the dipstick, and place aside.
3. Fill with the required amount of engine oil (see
‘Specifications’) until the oil level reaches the top of the
dipstick (see Fig. B)
Note: Easy filling can be achieved with either a small funnel or
a syringe (both not included).
4. Insert the dipstick, and turn clockwise until it seals. Firmly tighten by hand
Note: See ‘Pre-operational checks’ for further information about checking the oil level and
using the dipstick.
Filling with fuel
WARNING: NEVER fill with fuel whilst the engine is running.
Switch off the engine and wait until it has cooled before
refuelling.
WARNING: In some regions petrol may contain a percentage
of alcohol (ethanol or methanol). It is advised against the use
of such fuels with this generator. Fuels containing more than
10% ethanol MUST NOT be used under any circumstances. If
using fuels containing methanol, specific corrosion inhibitors
must be added, and the proportion of methanol MUST be kept
below 5%. Damage to the fuel system or engine, caused by
fuels containing alcohol, are not covered by warranty.
WARNING: NEVER use petrol/oil mixtures (2-stroke mix) with this generator.
Note: For further advice on fuel, also refer to ‘Storing Fuel’ in the ‘Maintenance’ section of
this manual.
1. Ensure the Fuel Shut-Off Valve (17) is in the ‘OFF’ position (horizontal)
2. Open the Fuel Cap (21) by turning it anticlockwise until the bayonet disengages, and
remove
3. Fill the Fuel Tank (20) with fresh unleaded fuel (see
‘Specification’), until the Fuel Gauge (24) indicates ‘Full’.
DO NOT overfill
Note: This generator features a Mesh Fuel Filter (23), located
inside the Fuel Tank Opening (22), underneath the Fuel Cap
(21). Whilst refuelling, petrol has to be poured through this filter
into the tank. DO NOT fill the fuel tank without the mesh filter in
place. Clean the filter regularly as described in ‘Maintenance’.
4. When finished refuelling, immediately refit the Fuel Cap
and close by turning it clockwise until you hear a ‘clicking’ sound
WARNING: Never use this generator without the Fuel Cap (21) in place and securely shut.
Grounding the generator
WARNING: This generator produces sufficient electrical power
to electrocute or seriously injure a person, if misused.
• Connect the Ground Connector (5), located on the
generator control panel, with an external ground system
(i.e. an earthing rod or other suitable electrical earth
connection)
• The ground wire must be a copper wire with the same or
a larger cross section than the supply cord of the attached
appliance
• The ground wire must have an eyelet terminal with 6mm
internal diameter, to connect to the generator (see Fig. C for correct electrical connection)
• Always use a residual current device (RCD) with a maximum tripping current of 30mA
and a response time of less than 40ms. Follow the RCD manufacturer’s instructions with
regards to installation and operation in combination with a generator
