Changing frequencies using
the floating diaphragm
Your Gima stethoscope is equipped with a floating diaphragm
that enables you to listen to both low and high frequency
sounds without turning over the chestpiece.
Το listen to low and high frequency sounds wit h out remov-
ing and turning over the chestpiece, simply alternate between
light and firm pressure on the floating diaphragm .
Headset adjustment
1. Gima stethoscope is equipped with comfortable sealing eartips.
They are designed to conform to the ear canal so as to block
out ambient noise. The eartips are fixed onto the eartubes fora
secure connection.
2. To reduce spring tension, grasp each eartube at its bend and
gently pull outwards as shown in Fig 1.
3. To increase spring tension, squeeze the eartubes together as
shown in Fig 2.
4. When the eartips are in your ears, the eartubes should be pointed
forward as shown in Fig 3. lmproperly wearing the stethoscope
headset can result in poor acoustical seal, and in some cases,
complete sound blockage.
Make sure that the eartubes are pointed slight-
ly forward into the ear canal.
Removing the diaphragm and cleaning
the chestpiece
With the diaphragm side up, grasp t he rim with thumbs and index
fingers of both hands and roll the rim off the edge of the chestpiece.
Remove the diaphragm from t he rim and clean the parts in soapy
water or wipe with alcohol. Chestpiece surfaces can be wiped with
alcohol or soapy water. Dry all parts a n d surfaces thoroughly before
reassembly..
Assemble and replacement of the floating diaphragm
1. Using your fingertip, apply a small amount of talcum powder to the inside surface of the
flexible edge of the diaphragm. This will facilitate assembly and maintain smooth and quiet
