Tips
Grinding Coffee Beans
•
Your coffee grinder will hold up to 36 g whole coffee beans at a time.
NOTE:
Consult your coffee maker instructions for the recommended grind - then adjust to
your own taste.
•
For the best cup of coffee, grind only enough coffee for the coffee maker. If you need
a large amount of coffee, you may need to grind coffee beans in several batches.
•
Grind coffee beans for up to 20 seconds at a time. Continue grinding until desired
texture is reached.
FINE GRIND:
Exposes more surface to the water and therefore a more rapid rate of
extraction of flavour.
COARSER GRIND:
Exposes less surface, this is for the longer brewing cycle of a
percolator.
IMPORTANT:
Experimenting with the length of grind time will enable you to get exactly
the grind you prefer for your coffee.
Grinding Spices
Spices have more flavour when freshly ground. It is recommended to grind only spice
seeds such as peppercorn, mustard seeds, coriander seeds etc. Follow the same
instructions as listed for grinding coffee beans.
IMPORTANT:
We recommend you purchase a second grinder if you want to grind spices
as the spices will leave a strong smell and flavour after grinding.
Not Recommended
Hard grains such as corn, wheat, rice, barley, and rye may damage the lid if ground.
NEVER GRIND
anything which is moist, gummy or extremely hard: ice, chocolate,
nutmeg, candied ginger, etc.
NEVER
make pastes of any kind from seeds such as sunflower or sesame in your coffee
grinder.
NEVER
add oils or liquids while grinding.
NEVER
chop, mince or puree soft foods in your coffee grinder.
