C6M-II Installation Manual
Section 3
Installation
This section provides step-by-step instructions for installing the C6M-II, checking its operation
and connecting it to other equipment. In this process, the following tasks are performed:
Mount the modulator.
Set all customized features.
Select RF channel frequency.
Attach cables.
Before You Begin
Before beginning the installation, check that you have the following items with the C6M -II
unit:
Power cord
Acceptable for use with NEMA Style 5-15R ac receptacles
supplying nominal 120 Volts.
Two F-type 75-Ohm coaxial jumpers
Provided to connect
SIF IN
to
SIF OUT
and
PIF IN
to
PIF OUT
.
Two F-type 75-Ohm male terminators
Provided to terminate
CW OUT
and
COMP IF OUT
.
Four mounting screws with plastic
washers
Provided to mount the unit in the rack.
Spade lugs wire terminals
Provided for manual connections on the terminal block.
Five screws with split ring washers
Provided as spares parts for the terminal block.
If you are installing the C6M-II in a system that currently has a C6M and will operate in a
range higher than 600 MHz, an external lowpass filter, model C6-LPF600 (928-363-000) or
equivalent should be included. This filter is used to attentuate spurious carriers occurring
above 600 MHz. The filter is installed either at the RF output of the C6M or at the combined
output. Appendix E, Application Notes provides instructions for installing this filter.
Mounting the Modulator
Mount the modulator in a standard 19-inch rack. Provide an open space of 1.75 inches above
and below the modulator to allow for the free flow of air. If the equipment operates
continuously in a closed cabinet, use forced air circulation to ensure maximum equipment life
and optimum performance.
To maximize product life, refer to National Electric Code (NEC) guidelines for proper
grounding of the C6M-II to equipment racks, and to the grounding system of the building.
