Chapter 6
OPERATING THE DRILLING RIG

temporarily, bearing in mind that the final stages of the kelly bar
’s descent
should be done at a particularly slow rate and immediately releasing the
descent control as soon as the tool touches the ground.
6.1.4
Behaviour of the winch when rising
There is no limit switch for the rising phase of the winch. The kelly bar will
stop when touches the rotary. However it is not appropriate to insist on raising
it when stops. Working in this position friction increases and consequently
also the downloading process slows.
6.2 Drilling a borehole
6.2.1
Control sequence for making the borehole
1.
Position the kelly bar block
fig.6.2.1.1
;
fig.6.2.1.1
2.
Push joystick A (the left-hand joystick) forward (winch down) to lower
the tool to the ground (or to the bottom of the borehole);
3.
When contact is made, push pedal R to the left to make the rotary head
turn clockwise;
4.
Once rotation begins, you can put crowd force on the tool by pushing
forward joystick B;
5.
Drilling will continue until the tool is full of earth;
the first time, with the
oscillation of the kelly bar blocked, it is preferable to stop at a depth of 20-25 cm
