Cooling System

General Information
The Vivid 5S N/6S N cooling system comprises two main parts:
•
A single, 80x80 mm freely-running FAN located on the left side of the AC Distribution Box. The FAN
withdraws air from the AC Distribution Box through the side vents, removing the warm air from
AC Distribution Box components. To monitor proper operation of the FAN, a dedicated status signal
is routed from the AC Distribution Box to the PMC.
•
The cabinet cage assembly includes two fans, which are directly controlled through the FAN
controller module, by the monitoring application. The fans withdraw air from the system through the
side vents, removing the warm air from around the internal components of the cage. - See
5-41 "Airflow through the Vivid™ S5 N and Vivid™ S6 N System" on page 5-54
. The fans' speed
will be switched from low mode to “high mode” (and
vice versa
), depending on the Front End
temperature.
The structure of Vivid™ S5 N and Vivid™ S6 N internal components has been designed to provide the
best thermal conduction, allowing the maximum amount of heat to be removed from the system. It is
crucial that the system ventilation access is not blocked; a distance of at least 20 cm from right and left
sides of the system should be kept clear. In addition, operating the system in an unclean environment
could introduce foreign objects into the unit and create blockage of the airflow, which may eventually
cause irreparable damage to the system. There are therefore some minimal environmental conditions
that should be provided for optimum operation of the system - for details and recommendations, refer
to
Table 2-2 "Environmental Requirements" on page 2-2.
Periodically, it may be necessary to clean the filter and the internal components of the system. This task
should be performed by qualified personnel - refer to
for more details.
