NeverClean™ Condenser
The condenser coils are no longer located on the
back of the refrigerator. The refrigerator can be
installed within 1/2" of the wall. Due to more efficient
air flow, the condenser does not require cleaning in
normal operating environment.
Brita
®
Filtered Water Dispenser Module
NSF tested and certified, holds 4.5 liters of water.
It improves taste and odor by reducing chlorine,
sediment, zinc and it also reduces 99% of lead from
tap water.
Electronic Icemaker/IM-4
Electronic sensor senses water temperature and
allows for a second and third fill if necessary. This
provides more efficient cube size. Icemaker is turned
on and off by a switch. However, the green indicator
light on the side of the IM-4 will only be illuminated
when the Freezer light switch is depressed. The
power to the IM-4 is cut off when the drawer is
opened. This prevents ice from spilling into the
bottom of the freezer. It is also crucial to use the
large ice bucket that came with the refrigerator
when installing an IM-4. The IM-4 and bucket have
been designed together to prevent ice spillage
when opening the drawer on PDS18 models and
basket on GBS18 models. The bucket contained in
the IM-4 kit should be discarded. The feeler arm
detects when the ice bucket is full. For additional
information on the electronic icemaker, refer to
service guide 31-9063.
Icemaker Installation
Mounting Block –
The PDS/GBS 18 requires
a mounting block in order to install an IM-4
icemaker.
If the mounting block is not installed, the
icemaker will not line up with the freezer liner holes.
The block must be installed between the freezer liner
and ice maker. This moves the icemaker out over the
ice bucket and allows for the icemaker to properly
interact with the ice bucket.
Installation / Location
– The mounting block can
be found in the top shelf of the freezer basket.
The mounting block is in the plastic bag taped to the
ice cube trays. The part number for the mounting
block is:
WR2M3604
.
Removing the Freezer door:
It may be necessary to remove the freezer door
on installation of the refrigerator (when transiting
through a narrow passage) or when installing the
icemaker. It is
very important
to only loosen the
bolts, which attach
the “L” bracket to the door
, and
not the bolts which attach the L bracket to the glide.
This will prevent the door from getting out of
alignment.
Please follow these steps when gaining
access to the evaporator/fan in the mullion:
1. Remove crispers and remove the mounting screw
at the center of the FF bottom-front end.
2. Slide the FF bottom all the way toward the back
and to the right of the refrigerator until the front
end of FF bottom is not engaged with the grill and
the left side of the FF bottom is not covered by the
liner. You may have to push hard to overcome the
friction between the FF bottom and the evaporator
cover. Use a putty knife if necessary.
3. Lift the FF bottom from the front-left corner and
extract the part slowly. Remove tape to gain
access to the fan and evaporator.
