Signal Descriptions
Table 6-5 Signal Descriptions
Mnemonic Signal
Description
VCC
+5 Volts DC power
+5V STDBY
+5 Volts DC standby power for the real-time clock preservation
GND
The DC voltage reference for the system
+12V
+12 Volts DC power (unused)
-12V
-12 Volts DC power (unused)
BG0IN~ to BG3IN~,
BG0OUT~ to BG3OUT~,
IACKIN~, IACKOUT~
The VITA VME64 and VME64x standards define these signals as daisy chain signals. As such, they are connected together
(OUT to IN) to allow the daisy chain to continue without affecting the values in any way
SYSRESET~
When active (low), this causes a hardware reset of the board
GPn(0)/GPn~(0)
Gigabit Ethernet Port n Pair 0. 100
Ω
matched pair
GPn(1)/GPn~(1)
Gigabit Ethernet Port n Pair 1. 100
Ω
matched pair
GPn(2)/GPn~(2)
Gigabit Ethernet Port n Pair 2. 100
Ω
matched pair
GPn(3)/GPn~(3)
Gigabit Ethernet Port n Pair 3. 100
Ω
matched pair
MNG_TX, MNG_TX~,
MNG_RX, MNG_RX~
Service 10/100BaseT Ethernet Port transmit and receive 100
Ω
differential signal pairs. The software uses these for
management/control. The Tx and Rx pairs are routed over the shortest distance to an RJ-45 jack (the magnetics are on the
main board)
COM1_TXD, COM1_RXD
2-wire (transmit and receive) serial communications port 1 from a DUART.
The DUART is only used by the software
COM2_TXD, COM2_RXD
2-wire (transmit and receive) serial communications port 2 from a DUART.
The DUART is only used by the software
BIT_PASS
Open collector output used to indicate BIT Pass/Fail status (high = BIT Pass, low = BIT Fail or in progress.
Able to sink 50 mA up to 5V
BP_SOFT_KILL
a
A voltage between 5V and 12V applied to this pin disables all power supply generation on board
BP_FSTART~
Hardware Fast Start active low enable pin to force the GBX24 to start quickly
BP_RECOVER~
Flash recovery mode. Forces the board to boot-up from the reserve bank of Flash
BP_NED_EVENT
a
Nuclear event detected input. This is an active high signal, and is normally grounded. A voltage between 5V and 12V
applied to this pin will cause the on board power rails to be crowbarred immediately
Reserved
Reserved by the VITA VME64 and VME64x standards
a. Non-standard option.
NOTE
The GBX24 will not disrupt, in any way, the VME-defined signals in a standard VME backplane. These
signals are not connected internally on the GBX24.
Ethernet ports GP9, GP11, GP15 and GP17 are disabled when the front panel optics are fitted.
