2.8.3 Adapter Modules
Plug-on adaptor modules are available for connecting RS-485 serial, plastic or glass fiber cables
to the D.20 Communication Interface and the D.20 Fiber Optic Splitter modules.

2.8.4 D.20 Fiber Optic Splitter
The D.20 Fiber Optic Splitter (DFS) is used to break out the D.20 Link into four separate D.20
Links, for applications with clusters of peripherals at different locations:

The D.20 Fiber Optic Splitter (DFS) provides a 1:4 interface between the RS-485
serial D.20
Link and up to four fiber optic links. The DFS has two RS-485 ports, one input port and one port
continuing the D.20 Link daisy chain. Up to four plastic or glass fiber optic adaptors plug onto
the DFS module to connect the fiber cables. See Figure 43. The DFS installs on a standard 19"
rack and is two rack units high.
