11.25 Cleaning the air filter and air filter box
Note
Environmental hazard Hazardous substances cause environmental damage.
–
Dispose of oils, grease, filters, fuel, cleaning agents, brake fluid, etc., correctly and in compliance with the appli-
cable regulations.
Info
Do not clean the air filter with fuel or petroleum since these substances attack the foam.
Preparatory work
–
Remove the air filter box cover. ( p. 53)
–
Remove the air filter. ( p. 53)

Main work
–
Wash the air filter thoroughly in special cleaning liquid and allow it
to dry properly.
Air filter cleaner ( p. 119)
Info
Only press the air filter to dry it, never wring it out.
–
Oil the dry air filter with a high-grade air filter oil.
Oil for foam air filter ( p. 119)
–
Clean the air filter box.
–
Check intake flange for damage and looseness.
Finishing work
–
Install the air filter. ( p. 54)
–
Install the air filter box cover. ( p. 53)
