Updating boot code over the network
As discussed in
step 1 – selecting the proper version
, with either upgrade path (to Version 2.7.1B or to
Version 3.0), the boot code will be updated. At boot up time, the Magnum 6K switch identifies that
there is a new version of the boot code and asks if the new boot code should be loaded
11
. The new boot
code is not loaded unless the user responds affirmatively to the question from the
console port
(or serial
connection)
12
. If the Magnum 6K switch is upgraded over the network or remotely, the boot code can
be manually updated by using the
‘upgrade’
command discussed below. This allows the boot code to be
updated without requiring access to serial port.
Syntax
upgrade mode=bl
mode=bl
is a hidden option and is not visible using the help capabilities in MNS-6K.
This command can be executed by accessing the switch through the console port
(serial connection) or through the network (telnet to the switch.)
Continue to use the network access method defined in steps 1, 2 and 3. Use the upgrade command as
shown in Figure 17 and reboot the switch.
